Description
This kit is for the popular 2-stroke bikes: the 2006 -2022 KTM250 SX and 300 XC, 2010-2013 Husaberg TE300, and 2014-2022 Husqvarna TC250, TE300, and TX300. There is no factory thermostatic control, so coolant temps can vary widely. It is not for the 2023 and newer bikes, KTM added their own thermostat and until we hear it’s a problem, we’re not offering a kit to replace those 2023 and newer layouts.
We’re seeing more and more 2-strokes being used as snowbikes, and the lack of factory cooling system control leads to cold coolant temps when used in the snow. The carbureted bikes stumble and can ice up and the EFI bikes overfuel when the sensors report back the cold coolant temps. The Thermo-Bob is an aluminum housing with a thermostat inside, and modifies your cooling system to operate like automotive systems have for decades… keeping coolant flowing all the time through the engine, but not through the radiators until it is up to a selected temperature. There are 3 temperatures to choose from: 131F was the factory KTM temp on carbureted 2-strokes that had a thermostat, carbureted bikes with carb heat will benefit from the 140F ‘stat, and KTM’s new EFI two-strokes that have thermostats are shipped from KTM with a 158F thermostat – our option is a few degrees above that at 165F.
There is also a threaded port in the Thermo-Bob 3 that will accept aftermarket temperature gauges such as the KOSO or TRAIL TECH 1/8-28 BSPP temperature sending units.
